Step Zero Society was born from lived experience—the space between crisis and recovery where many people remain unseen. Founded by individuals who personally battled addiction, we understand what it feels like to be stuck at “step zero,” unsure how to move forward. Inspired by the philosophies of Jiu-Jitsu—turning resistance into power—and Kintsugi—celebrating strength in imperfection—we exist to remind people that their brokenness can become their greatest strength. Our name reflects a powerful truth: every journey begins before the first step. And no one should take that alone.
Driven by a passion to help those on the path to recovery, I joined StepZero Society after recognizing the urgent need for financial support in sober living. I believe everyone deserves a second chance to rebuild and make whole their lives one person at a time.
After battling addiction for several years, I began my journey of sobriety on February 5th, 2018, when one man’s act of compassion and community changed the course of my life. That experience became the inspiration behind Step Zero Society, a vision to help others find support, opportunity, and purpose in their own recovery journey.
